TCBJ Chapter Achievement Awards 2021

The board of the Twin Cities Black Journalists has selected the following local journalists for the TCBJ Chapter Achievement Awards to recognize their hard work over the last year.

Keeping Them Honest Award – Mel Reeves, Minnesota Spokesman Recorder

This award goes to a member who wasn’t afraid to hold people in power accountable and tell it like it is

Glow Up Award – Amudalat Ajasa

This award goes to a member who has shown substantial personal and professional growth over the last year 

Emerging Media Award – Jeffrey Bissoy, Plugged App

This award goes to a member who has innovatively created a new media platform, show or application to better elevate Black voices

Boots On The Ground Award – Georgia Fort, BLCK Press 

This award goes to a member who is consistently on the front lines in the community reporting the stories that matter most

Chapter Hero Award – Harry Colbert, North News

This award goes to the member who has gone above and beyond to support the chapter

Community Promoter Award – Sheletta Brundridge, WCCO Radio

This is an award for a journalist or PR professional who has continued to highlight the positive side of our community

Moving On Up Award – Adrienne Broaddus, CNN

This award goes to the member who has made tremendous career advances that show us proud

Rising Entrepreneur Award – Mukhtar Ibrahim, Sahan Journal 

This award goes a member who is making a great impact in the community with a new media business

Reach Back Award – Kyndell Harkness, Star Tribune

This award goes to a member who has taken the time to mentor and uplift other journalists

Behind the Scenes Award – Joshua Cobb, BNC

This award goes to a member whose face or byline is rarely seen but whose work helps make others shine

Perseverance Award – Sonya Goins, CCX

This award goes to a member who despite personal battles and obstacles has persevered at their craft

Lifetime Achievement Award – Sherrie Mazingo

This award goes to a member who has made an extraordinary contribution to the Black journalism community within the Twin Cities and exemplifies the spirit and excellence of the late Toni Randolph
