Brandi joined KSTP, 5 Eyewitness News in January 2014. Before returning home to the Twin Cities, Brandi worked as a reporter, multi-media journalist at NBC 7 San Diego (KNSD) from 2011-2013. While at KNSD, she also served as an on-air contributor for “Politically Speaking,” the station’s weekly public affairs show. From 2008-2009 Brandi worked as a reporter/video journalist/bell county bureau chief at News 8 Austin. Brandi‘s first on-air position was as the political reporter at KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota from 2006-2008.
Brandi began her career as a production assistant at MSNBC from 2005-2006. She served as an Intern with Dateline NBC in 2004, as well as with The Washington Center during the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City.
Awards
Brandi earned a North Dakota Associated Press Award for best Series/Documentary in 2007. On assignment in Guatemala, she covered political, educational and cultural exchanges between North Dakota teachers and Guatemalans via The God’s Child Project. She also received a North Dakota Associated Press Award for excellence in Political Reporting in 2006.
Education
Brandi has a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from George Washington University in Washington DC. Her concentration was International Development. Brandi went to graduate school full-time from 2009-2011. Brandi has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her minor was Spanish. She studied abroad in Barcelona and Salamanca, Spain.

Brandi is a member of National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
Personal Interests
Brandi enjoys watching movies & documentaries, going on hikes and checking out live arts performances. She’s conversational in Spanish and still keeps in touch with her friends in Spain. For several years, Brandi was a gymnast at TAGS Edina.
